A celebration of lobster, wine and live music — Friday 25 September
Lobster is not something you order absent-mindedly. It is the reason people pick a night and book a table.
On Friday 25 September, World Lobster Day, Moocasa gives the evening over to it, with wine from Alpha Estate and live music.
The star of the evening: lobster
(Sorry, steak. Tonight is not about you.)
Lobster was cheap once. In nineteenth-century New England it was fed to prisoners and servants, so plentiful that it washed up on the shore in heaps. It took about a hundred years to become the most expensive thing on the menu.
At Moocasa it has been part of our identity from day one. Fresh lobster from Brittany, the Mediterranean and Canada, along with frozen Jamaican lobster depending on availability, meets premium cuts of beef in the idea our kitchen was built on: a modern surf & turf.
On 25 September, the beef steps aside.
A few surprises from the kitchen
The full à la carte menu runs as always. Alongside it, our kitchen will be sending out complimentary lobster and surf & turf bites, made only for that night.
No tasting menu, no set programme. Small plates arriving when they are ready, for everyone in the room.
Lobster meets Greek wine
Alpha Estate joins us as wine sponsor for the evening. Selected labels will be poured alongside the lobster and the surf & turf dishes: Greek wine with enough structure to stand up to both.
And then, the music
Later in the evening live music takes over the room. Same low light, same easy pace we keep every night, just a fuller room and a better soundtrack.
